Project Jivan - 15 November (RTI Week)
"The business of business is business", said Milton Friedman but the corporate world of the 21st Century has come to realize that it cannot alone be the case anymore. Social Responsibility has become an intrinsic part of the corporate activity. Realizing its significance, Jaipur Pink city RoundTable 171 has taken yet another initiative under the Round Table India week to organise blood donation camp on 15th Nov 2008.
108 people from JPRT171 and Students from Taxila came forward to donate blood in this camp. The required equipments for blood donation camp were organized by Santokba Durlabhji Hospital. The Blood donors were offered Banana, Biscuits and Apple along with coffee after the Blood donation. As a token Coffee mug was also presented to all the donors.
Dr. Vidhi from SDMH said "I am really impressed with such an enthusiastic response. I am really grateful for the kind co-operation and support extended by JPRT171. It was a marvellous experience."
HT Anant Kedia said, " It was heartening sight to see so many people taking time out from a working day and donation blood. Thanks to JPRT171 , Taxila Business School and SDMH for excellent arrangement and smooth conduct of the camp."

Tr. Shishir Saraf who came with his son said, "The whole proces was a breeze and really felt nice to be donating. The coffee mug they gave was amazing."
Admission Director Sunil Sachdeva, after donation blood told students, "It was a fantastic feeling donating blood for someone's life. "

When Jaipur The Pink City turned Red....
Jaipur: Terror striked in Jaipur on 13th of May 2008 as 9 serial blasts rocked the pink city leaving over 70 dead and putting unforgettable scars on the people’s memories that were directly affected. The blasts rocked the city in the busiest hour and in the busiest places with killing accuracy. The toll is going on increasing with the last one being 80 killed and 250 injured.
The first blast took place at
The city was in chaos as people screamed and ran helter skelter , running , jumping over kids and injured. The siren of ambulance was every where in the city instead of the hustling bustling people that are usually the part of the Jaipur streets. The streets which are normally full with natives and tourists alike went deserted.
A bigger attack was averted as the police defused three bombs of same nature....
13 May, the dreadful night after the blast ,1200+ units of blood was needed urgently at the SMS Hospital (where 250+ Injured were admitted) , it was the a night of calling.....
Tarun , Alok, Ashish, Anant, Ritika and I started calling and Smsing to all known ones , in less than 1 hr a large number Jaipur people came forward to donate Blood in middle of the night.
By mid night the staff at SMS asked us to arrange the blood of Only of under 40 age group so they are able get potent and usable blood.
Next Morning we organized a Blood Donation Camp only for O-ve and B-ve Bood group at Monelak Hospital, and we were on alert if any other hospital needed blood. By late afternoon we were able to collect 300+ extra units of blood from our friends and family....plus had 4000+ people listed, Ready in line to donate if required....
Another Organisation JPRT works with is AKSHEY-PATRA, a lot of our member do volunteer work aswell as donate funds to this noble organisation. More than 1800 children of Various Jaipur Roundtable schools are provided Daily MID-Day meals at school by this them.
Starting from 13th night,They were quick to set up 2 emergency Canteen at the hospital, they open at 6am and operate till 11pm. 8000-10000 FREE Meals per day are being offered to Patients/ Attendants/ Volunteers and even general public.
Yit,

Naye UMANG Hai...

Yet another achievement but this time time of a totally different level.
This was our first experience with children with special abilities at UMANG - an initiative towards the rehabilitation of children with disability.
The WCE team of 16/17 students from Charleston, Scotland, Tr. Pushpendra, Tr. Tarun and myself visited the school premises on the 9th of July '07. What touched us was the purity of heart and the innocence of these children.
The Boys of the WCE team had brought their National Football Uniform, which they gifted to the students at UMANG, who quickly changed in the gear for some action!
A LAGAAN-estyle Football Match - The 2 teams of UK students and Umang Boys, kicked into action for the duel. Irrespective of their handicaps, the fireblaze kicks from the Umang boys sure made the Angreez boys rethink their strategy. After 45 mins of action from both sides, the match came to a happy ending with the Angreez side willingly losing 11-3 to Umang boys. I think the joy of losing this match was far bigger and overwhelming than any joy of winning.
The WCE team girls on other side, alongwith Tr. Tarun and Tr. Pushpendra, played interactive games with the students and also learned the special qualities of painting that some of the students had.
We all returned with wonderful memories and with a promise to fullfill atleast one wish from wishlist given to us there, donating a PA System required there. Tr. Peeyush Sharma has donated 6 ceiling fans for the New building of the UMANG school on 19 July.
The WCE Team 4 is working at the Parsuramdwara school from 26th July.
