The Dream…: A School
The New Kids On The Block (JPRT, of course) had set some new standards in tabling (please excuse our modesty :-)). And like any NKOTB we kept itching to do more. What was left… build a school, what else.We had been discussing the subject in our business meeting on and off. So one fine meeting we decided to do something about it. And like any NKOTB, we took the plunge and who cares how deep the water is! Hardly any money in the kitty and no pre-planning, we just went ahead and got ourselves a school project.
The Rajkiya Prathamik Vidyalaya, Sunarwali is located about60 km from Jaipur in a remote village where the kids either opt for no education or challenge themselves to a daily 10-15 km trek to attend a primary school.
When we visited the little hamlet and learnt the condition there, we decided why not here. One of the farmer there donated a part of his farmland for this. We then took up the challenge and challenged ourselves beyond capacities to realize our dream within 3 months. The inauguration began with the presence of Tablers with family from JPRT, BURT and JHRT. The formalities continued on the stage… and the red tape ribbon (oops) was cut and MLA Saheb was shown around the school. Then came the mandatory round of speeches (yawn!). It was really touching for us to be at the receiving end of so much praise for our small contribution. RTI President Ravi Khanna, Area V Chairman Rajeev Grover and other tablers arrived from Delhi and congratulated us again on this occasion and the achievement of building up a school in such a short span by such a young table. It was almost 5:30 pm by the time the function got over
